Progress Update - Preparing for Closed Alpha
July 30, 2025 at 08:13 PM
As we move closer to the start of Shardborne's closed alpha, we wanted to take a moment to share an update on where things stand and what we've been building behind the scenes.
While our original goal was to host the closed alpha in July, a few core features still need more time in the forge. Rather than rushing out an experience that doesn't fully reflect our vision, we've decided to take the time we need to get it right, ensuring your first steps into Shardborne are truly unforgettable.
In the making
Even with the closed alpha on the horizon, we see ourselves at just the beginning of this journey. Many of our long-term plans extend far beyond what the closed alpha will contain, but we’ve already made significant progress.
Recent milestones include fine-tuning loot tables and recipes, introducing new mobs and making major improvements to dungeon generation. Right now, our focus is on polishing key systems and ensuring that the dungeon experience feels stable and rewarding. We’re finally able to play the foundation of the game we’ve been building for a while, which is a huge milestone for us.
We know many of you are eager to explore what we’ve been working on, and we can’t wait to get it into your hands. The extra time we’re taking now is all about delivering an experience that’s worth the wait.

Game design
We've touched on our design philosophy in earlier posts, but today we'd like to take you deeper into the heart of what we're creating.
Shardborne was born from a love of both dungeon crawl RPGs and the limitless creativity offered by Minecraft. Our goal is to blend the best elements of both worlds into a modpack that offers a fresh, innovative gameplay loop, where you delve into dangerous dungeons, face tactical challenges and continue to grow your character with each step you take.
We're not just remixing what's been done before. We're crafting brand new mechanics, scenarios and decision-making moments never seen in a Minecraft modpack. Every system and every asset is made with one goal in mind: to give Shardborne its own identity while staying true to the charm that made Minecraft into what it is today.
A building in the Nexus Realm
In the meantime... stay tuned! We’ll announce sign-ups once we're nearing the start of the closed alpha. Keep an eye on our Discord server and our news feed - you won’t miss it.
