Chronicle of the Mineshaft

The Mineshaft stretches endlessly beneath the surface of the Aelth dimension, carved long ago by creatures working together to make a home. Its tunnels once carried veins of precious minerals far beyond these halls, yet over time, the passages fell silent as traffic dwindled and the original builders returned to their quiet routines.
The creatures that once welcomed travelers have grown wary and aggressive, and those who arrived afterward have learned to match their vigilance. The tunnels are no longer a place of trade or passage - they have become a fortress, each chamber watched over by guardians that do not tolerate intrusion.

In the early days of Aelth, the Nacrower burrowed beneath the open lands above, carving tunnels in its endless search for stone to devour. Over time, its hunger shaped passageways large enough for others to inhabit, and what began as feeding grounds gradually became a network of shelter and trade. The creature itself moves slowly, but its massive jaws can bite cleanly through even the hardest rock, leaving behind the hollow paths that still form much of the Mineshaft today.

The Luggite lumbers through the Mineshaft with a sack of heavy logs slung across its back. Its immense strength and rigid frame allow it to endure blows that would fell most other creatures, though its movements are slow and deliberate. Long ago, it forged a bond with the Nacrower to brace the tunnels with wooden beams, after which it aided in hauling precious materials through the dark passages, crafting crates to carry the spoils with care.

Small and nimble, the Antellume slips through narrow cracks and hidden passages, drawn always to the colder reaches of the Mineshaft. Its sensitive antennae guide it toward the chill that lingers deep underground. Its glowing tail, once a beacon to light the way for others, now reveals its position to anyone nearby. Forced into confrontation, the Antellume fights with surprising ferocity despite its size.

The Gloombile moves silently through the tunnels, a creature of shadow and slime. Its dark, malleable body drips constantly, leaving slick trails that gradually stain and blacken the stone, marking both its path and its territory. Though weak in direct combat, the Gloombile proves resilient, with its shifting form absorbing and dispersing attacks that would fell other creatures.

The Skittergnaw moves along beams and walls with unnerving ease, claws gripping the uneven floors as it scuttles through the dark. Patience is its weapon, as it waits for its prey to wander close before striking with sharp, gnawing jaws. Its keen hearing lets it anticipate the movements of other creatures, making it a relentless and calculating presence in the Mineshaft.

Since the recent shift in behavior among the Mineshaft's inhabitants, reports have spread of a creature rarely seen and seldom survived. Witnesses speak of a roar that echoes through the tunnels, shaking the ground beneath, and of heavy slams that warn and attack in equal measure. Only the tusks and glowing red eyes appear from the shadows, fleeting glimpses of a being that seems to patrol deep within the tunnels.
